Srinagar, July 28:
PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday demanded of Prime Minister Narenadra Modi to respond to a call for dialogue made by t Pakistan’s Prime Minister –in waiting Imran Khan to resolve Kashmir issue.
Speaking in public for the first time after she lost the government following the withdrawal of support by her alliance partner BJP on June 19th, Mehbooba Mufti said that the dialogue was imperative , but she clearly avoided any reference asking Pakistan to stop sending terrorists to this side of the Line of Control. She displayed her usual squeamish stand toward Pakistan as she is averse to the idea of saying anything that hurts Pakistan or its supporters in Kashmir .
Former Chief Minister who is facing a rebellion – both vocal and silent within her party that was founded on July 28, 1999 – after the loss of power said that “ She refused to make compromises and that’s why cabal of support was cut to her government by BJP. Otherwise , I could have ruled the state for six years,” she added with his hand up in air to stress the point that she stood for the Kashmir cause and friendship with Pakistan and refused to side with BJP’s idea that terrorism and talks cannot go together.
Mehbooba Mufti who had re-stitched her alliance with BJP in march 2016 after the death f her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in early January that year , today declared that she “ drank a cup of poison by aligning with BJP.’.
