The demand for separate state for Jammu is gaining momentum with Dogra Sawamibhan Sanghthan Party giving a clarion call for it from the holy town of Katra.
The DSSP president Ch. Lal Singh declared in Katra on Sunday that his party wanted the state for a jammu region with all the guarantees of jobs and land rights for the natives under Article 371.
After several other groups in Jammu raising this demand , DSSP’s call will give it a further boost . The demand seeks separate state for Jammu because of the assertion of the Dogra identity and at the same time perseveration of its culture and heritage and secure future for its people.
BJP that is now the largest party in the world and has very strong footprints in Jammu region from where it had won 25 out of 37 seats in 2014 Assembly polls can neither oppose nor support this demand . It has to be seen against the backdrop of its championing cause of Jammu’s rights in all its declarations in the past and now.
