Prolonged power cuts in this bone-chilling cold have made the life of people miserable

Banihal: 7 Jan ; National Conference leader and District president Ramban, Mir Sajjad Shaheen on Sunday conducted an extensive tour to several Village in Banihal constituency and took stock of the problems faced by the people on day-to-day basis.

During his visit to Chalalwas, Chaknarwah, Chanjloo, Darpora, Halimadan, Duligam, Hinjhal, Asshar, Lamber, Kuthtal, Thachi, Amkoot, Khairkoot, Nowgam villages the locals apprised him about erratic power supply, scarcity of drinking water, shortage of staff in health care centers besides depeliated condition of Lambar to Nowgam link road.

Shaheen has expressed serious concern over the unscheduled power cuts during the chilling cold winter in the entire Ramban District.

He said the metered as well as non-metered consumers particularly in Banihal, Gool, Ramban, Batote and it’s far off areas have been facing long hours of unscheduled power cuts.

While referring to Banihal and its adjoining areas Shaheen said that residents of various villages that include Mahu, Mangit, Khari, Nadika, Trigam, Kumbla, Buzla, Sarachi, Hinjhal, Fagow, Tethar, Chareel, Nowgam, Chachal, Neel, Chaknarwah, Chamalwas, Lamber, Ashar, Kaskoot, Zinhal, Wanpora, Shagan, Hingni, Zonchwas, Sumar, Harog, Bajmasta, Pogal, Maligam, Paristan, Gagarnag, Sarachi , Chaka, Sarbagni, Amkot, Bankoot, Krawa, Dooligan, Hijwa, Arimarg, Bawah, Nachlana, Thachi, Ramsoo, Ukharhal, Batroo, Dardahi and other parts of District Ramban have been facing the brunt of the unscheduled power cuts as the PDD has failed to follow the electricity schedule as frequent power cuts have made the situation miserable for people living in these villages.

He said that people are facing prolonged power cuts due to which they have to spend maximum hours in darkness and added that people living in some villages complain that they are receiving electricity for only one or two hours a day and for the rest of the time they have to remain in darkness.

He further said that the unscheduled power cuts have increased manifold and claims of authorities on ground are proving a hoax,” adding that the government authorities have failed to mitigate the power crisis in Banihal as power cuts were witnessed continuously during these harsh winter days. Shaheen has sought immediate attention of higher ups into the matter and demanded an end to power cuts.

Shaheen has also expressed concern over the dilapidated condition of Chamalwas – Neel road which is in a very bad shape and the delay in improvement and upgradation work has badly impacted the mobility and added to the miseries of the people.

The NC leader has also urged upon the administration to review stock and supply position of essential commodities and ensure supply of ration, Cooking gas and Kerosene oil in all snow bound areas of district Ramban and Gool and other higher reaches of other districts before as most of these areas remain cut off for months during the winter.

He was accompanied by Zonal Vice President Chenab Riyaz Ahmed Mir, Tehsil president Abdul Ahad Shan, Youth provincial president Tariq Ahmed Dar, besides Abdul Hamid Khan, Gulam Nabi Draboo, Tanvir Ahmed Dar, Rayees Ahmed Mir, Parvez Ahmed Sohil and others.
