Jammu, February 6: Educated youth of Jammu and Kashmir will get better opportunities for employment as government has provided a dedicated directorate of employment in Top Sherkhania in Jammu, which was inaugurated by Sarita Chouhan.
This directorate will offer educated unemployed youth better job opportunities and counseling.
The newly constructed employment complex was built with a cost of Rs 12.81 crore.

The building will house the directorate of employment, Joint Director Employment Jammu Division, Deputy Director, District Employment & counseling Centre, Jammu and SC, ST counseling and guidance centre, Government of India. The building has features like parking facility in basement, separate entrance for specially-abled persons and counseling hall.
The facility will enable the departmental officers to ensure registrations and conduct career counseling sessions for the job seekers on regular basis. Besides, it will facilitate conduct of job fair in collaboration with various companies and entrepreneurs for the best interest of youths.
It was informed that the department has created its own website: jakemp.nic.in, which has been integrated with NCS Portal (Ministry of L&E GOI).
Sarita Chouhan, Commissioner Secretary labour and employment was apprised that the department has made online registration of 24,596 job seekers, conducted 1637 career counseling sessions covering 87457 candidates till date.
The department has also conducted 53 job fairs in all districts thereby ensuring Employment to 846 youths and shortlisted more than 4698 youths for job in private sector.
During the inauguration, Commissioner Secretary also interacted with the students who participated in the ongoing counseling session. She threw light on various skill sets required as per the current market scenario besides providing tips for choosing best career options.
