Jammu, February 7: A District Development Council (DDC) member from Kahra area of district Doda Mehraj Malik has been arrested by Jammu police in connection with stone throwing incident on police in Malik market area of Jammu.
Apart from Malik, seven other people have also been arrested by the police in connection with the incident.
Mehraj Malik is the only Aam Aadmi Party DDC member from entire Chenab valley and has remained vocal against the government’s policy towards people.
On Saturday police had to resort to teargas selling and cane charging when they were pelted with stone by the people during demolition drive in Malik market area of Jammu. Several policemen were injured in that incident.
Police had to file an FIR of the event and started investigation resulting in detention of five people yesterday and three more today including the AAP leader.
Police has informed that a case against these people were registered under relevant sections and action will be taken according to the law of the land.
