Doda, April 9: Doda Police organized Women Cricket Tournament at Sports Stadium Doda under Civic Action Programme (CAP) in which number of Women Teams of Doda area participated. The event witnessed huge gathering of locals of the area and participating teams.
This tournament was first of its kind and organized by District Police Doda with an aim to encourage the spirit of sports among the women and to provide them opportunities to display their talent in the field of sports.
On this occasion, DC Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan, was the chief guest.
SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom while interacting with the participating teams congratulated them for their enthusiastic participation and said that it has been the endeavor of Doda Police to organize number of programmes mainly to involve youth to provide them opportunity in the field of sports and such sports events will be organized in future also to encourage the sports activities among the women.
Final Match of the tournament was played between Green Champ Doda and Sports & Fitness Hub Doda and Green Champ Doda emerged as winner which was given cash prize of Rs, 25,000/- with trophy. The cash prize of Rs, 15,000/- with trophy was given to runner up team. Besides, cash prizes of Rs, 51,00 with trophies were also given to each to player of series, best bowler, best batter etc. Sports kits were also distributed among the participating teams.
The tournament was organized by Jaswant Singh, Dy.SP Hqrs Doda. On this occasion, ASP Hqrs Doda Shakeel Rehman Bhat, Dy.SP DAR Doda Susheel Kumar, SHO PS Doda Inspector Arun Sharma and other officers of Civil /Police Administration were also present.
