Udhampur, April 15: Today on 15th April 2023 a free Congenital heart disease detection camp was organized by The Udhampur Rotary Eye & General Welfare Foundation & Rotary Club Udhampur in association with Gift of Life Trust, Delhi, Rotary Club of Delhi Midwest & Partner Rotary Club Taipei Swanshie (under Global Grant No. 1531366), National Heart Institute (Delhi) & Safdarjung Hospital (Delhi).
The camp was inaugurated by Rtn H. M. P. Singh, Chairman Rotary ‘Gift of Life Trust (Delhi)’ in presence of Rtn D. N. Sharma, Chairman ‘The Udhampur Rotary Eye & General Welfare Foundation’ and Rtn Puran Lal Sharma President Rotary Club Udhampur with other Club Members. The main objective of the camp was to screen the patients under the age of 20 years belonging to the weaker section of society.
In the camp 107 patients were examined in which 42 patients were selected for free surgeries by Dr. O P Yadav, Head cardiology, National Heart Institute (Delhi) and Dr. Preeti Gupta, Head Cardiology Safdarjung Hospital (Delhi). These patients were examined after going through their latest Echocardiography reports, ECG etc. Many patients who were not in position to undergo echocardiography due to financial condition, were sent to various local centers for the test. It is pertinent to mention that Dr. Preeti Gupta herself went to District Hospital Udhampur to conduct Echocardiography and District hospital extended their kind cooperation by providing their setup. All the patients screened in the camp for surgery will undergo free of cost surgeries at National Heart Institute (Delhi) & Safdarjung Hospital (Delhi) through Gift of Life trust.
The patients from the far flung areas were also served with tea and refreshment which was arranged by Rtn Rajeev Gupta.
The team of Doctors from National Heart Institute New Delhi Dr O. P. Yadava, Safdarjung Hospital (Delhi), Mr Krishan Dutt, Dr Preeti Gupta were assisted throughout the co-ordination of a team from Rotary Club of Delhi Midwest Rtn H. M. P. Singh, Rtn P. C. Gulati, Rtn Prateek Jain, Rtn Pankaj Aggarwal, Rtn Resham Chawla, , The Rotary Club members of Udhampur are Rtn S. S. Kerni, Rtn Kamal Gupta, Rtn P. L. Suri, Rtn Puran Lal Sharma, Rtn Satish Gandotra, Rtn Rajeev Gupta, Rtn Adeep Mehta, Rotary Club of Jammu Bahu, Rotary Club of Katra Rtn Raj Kumar, Rtn Manish Verma also participated in the camp.
