Jammu, April 22 Northern Command chief of the Indian Army Lt. Gen. Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday visited Poonch terror attack site where five soldiers were killed on Thursday afternoon, to get an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
A tweet by Northern Command informed about the visit and stated that Gen. Dwivedi reviewed the security situation. No further details were given.
But it is understood that the Northern Command chief made few enquiries about the attack and how it happened and what measures were undertaken to trace the perpetrators.
His focus, according to reports, was on knowing the contours of the attack , its timings and how could Pakistan orchestrate it and to what end . He directed extra vigil on the LoC as also on all the border roads where security forces vehicles move up and down .
It may be recalled that at around 3 p m on Thursday, terrorists fired at the vehicle carrying jawans from Rajouri and Poonch . Five soldiers were killed on the spot , another was injured.
