Jammu, June 09 The army public school Rakhmuthi on Friday organised a mock G20 session in which students participated with great enthusiasm.
The Chief Guest, Chairman APS Rakhmuthi graced the occasion with his esteemed presence. He was received by the Principal Shaswati Ghosh and the Vice Principal,Sonia Kumari.
The programme was ushered in with the lighting of traditional lamp as a tribute to Mother Saraswati followed by a welcome address by the Principal. The programme proceeded with a group song that beguiled the audience succeeded by the presentation of video on the theme of G20.
The mock session was initiated with the participation of 30 students from various grades. Each delegate represented a G20 member country and assumed the role of a high-ranking government official. The purpose of the mock summit was to simulate the annual G20 Summit, allowing participants to discuss and propose solutions to global challenges and foster international cooperation. The mock session focused on crucial global issues, including economic stability, cybersecurity, and sustainable development. To facilitate comprehensive discussions, the delegates were divided into committees, including the Education Working Committee, Women Lead Development, Technological Transformation and Digital Public Infrastructure and Sustainable Development Goals. The summit commenced with a keynote address by India wherein it recognized the importance of promoting women’s access to quality education, vocational training, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields, aiming to bridge the gender gap . The participants recognized the transformative potential of digital technologies and discussed policies to promote digital inclusion, privacy, and security. The representative countries shared their insights on the innumerable challenges faced by the World.
They deliberated on areas such as digital infrastructure development, data governance, and the regulation of emerging technologies. By assuming the roles of different nations, students developed empathy and learned to consider various viewpoints, fostering a broader understanding of global affairs. A group dance performed by the students enthralled the audience, followed by the distribution of certificates to delegates, recognizing their contribution and commitment to global diplomacy.
In his enticing address, the Honorable Chief Guest highlighted the invaluable platform of Mock G20 summit provided for young leaders to engage in constructive dialogue and propose solutions to pressing global issues. He appreciated the resilience and teamwork put forth by the school.
The Vice Principal presented a vote of thanks, followed by National Anthem, lingering in everybody’s mind. A fond farewell was accorded to the Chairman of the school by the Principal, staff, and the students. A tea party was organized in the auditorium in honor of the outgoing Chairman.
Speaking on this occasion, the Principal said, “The Chairman is a man of action, a decision-maker, and well-versed in the school system”. The principal further added that the Chairman’s generosity has left an indelible mark on the school fraternity. As a token of affection and remembrance, Principal Ms Shaswati Ghosh on behalf of staff presented the Chairman with a memento. The event culminated with a group photograph with the staff members encapsulating the spirit of unity and collaboration.
