Srinagar, June 5: Day after the announcement of Lok Sabha election results , Prime Minister Minister Narendra Modi Modi has submitted his and his council of ministers resignation to President Droupdi Murmu on Wednesday.
President office said that the resignation has been accepted and President has asked PM and his council of ministers to continue till new government assumes office.
It’s a normal procedure that after the election results , the government resigns , whether the ruling party or alliance wins elections or not.
BJP led NDA has won an absolute majority with 295 seats in its kitty, though BJP on its own fell for short of the half way mark of 272 in the House of 543.
Sources have indicated that PM will take oath with new council of ministers on June 8.
All the NDA partners, TDP of Chandra Babu Naidu and JD-U of Nitish Kumar have declared their support to PM Modi.
