Faridabad, 31st July 2025: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, under the visionary leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, and NHPC Limited, under the dynamic leadership of Shri R.P. Goyal, Chairman and Managing Director, NHPC Limited—a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India—signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 31st July 2025 to establish a long-term strategic partnership focused on capacity building, consultancy, research, case development, and academic collaboration.

The MoU was formally signed by Cmdr. Kesavan Baskkaran (R), Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) IIM Jammu, and Shri Rajeev R. Asthana, General Manager (HRD), NHPC, on 31st July 2025 (Thursday) at the NHPC Corporate Office, Faridabad, in the presence of Shri. Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), NHPC Limited and Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu, along with senior officials from NHPC.
The MoU aims to leverage the intellectual capital and infrastructure of IIM Jammu to enhance organizational capabilities at NHPC. The partnership will focus on areas such as executive education and training, consultancy services, long-duration academic programs, summer internships, research initiatives, and knowledge-sharing platforms including national and international conferences.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, mentioned that the partnership reflects IIM Jammu’s unwavering commitment to nation-building through meaningful collaborations with public sector enterprises. He emphasized that the MoU would serve as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, organizational development, and leadership training. He added that IIM Jammu looks forward to contributing to NHPC’s talent development journey through cutting-edge research, impactful training interventions, and executive education aligned with emerging business and governance needs.
Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), NHPC Limited, noted that the MoU represents a significant milestone in NHPC’s ongoing pursuit of academic and professional excellence. He commended IIM Jammu’s innovative and structured approach to capacity building and underlined the importance of knowledge-driven collaborations in enhancing organizational capabilities. He expressed confidence that this partnership will strengthen NHPC’s learning ecosystem, align its leadership development with modern business practices, and support its long-term talent transformation goals.
Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C), IIM Jammu, stated that the MoU reflects IIM Jammu’s strong commitment to empowering Public Sector Enterprises and supporting Government of India initiatives through high-impact executive education and training programs. He emphasized that this collaboration underscores the importance of linking academia with industry to address emerging challenges and foster innovation-driven growth.
Under the agreement, IIM Jammu will design and deliver executive development programs for NHPC personnel, offer consulting solutions, and provide opportunities for NHPC executives to enroll in long-duration academic programs such as the Executive MBA and Ph.D. for working professionals. The collaboration also extends to sponsored research, joint case studies, and conferences aimed at knowledge dissemination and organizational learning.
This collaboration reaffirms IIM Jammu’s mission to engage with industry partners to deliver impactful solutions, and NHPC’s commitment to nurturing leadership and innovation across its workforce.
