Jammu, Sept 7: Biometric attendance at the Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College, Canal Road, Jammu, failed during the State Eligibility Test (SET) for Assistant Professors on Sunday, leaving many candidates anxious and uncertain.
According to students, biometric machines and servers at the centre malfunctioned, forcing staff to manually record attendance. Several candidates expressed frustration over the confusion and lack of clear instructions, saying the situation added unnecessary stress during an already high-pressure examination.
“No one explained what would happen to our attendance record. We were worried our presence might not be marked correctly,” said one candidate.
Despite repeated attempts, no immediate clarification or formal statement was issued by the University of Jammu regarding the technical snag, further fueling concerns among candidates.
The incident comes on a day the University lauded its integration of advanced monitoring mechanisms, including live CCTV surveillance and biometric verification, for this year’s examination.
