RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 07: Reaching out to areas affected by heavy rainfall, flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, visited Sub-Divisions of Banihal and Ramsoo to inspect restoration and relief measures.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by SSP Arun Gupta; Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Banihal Mohammad Naseeb Bajraan; Tehsildar Khari Harvir Singh; Tehsildar Banihal Amjad Hussain; Engineers and officers of various departments.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected in Khari tehsil area, Banihal, Chamlaswas, Kawna and other adjoining areas to assess the damage and losses caused by the heavy rains. He also reviewed the progress of restoration works of the road connectivity, essential services and supplies, damaged public and private infrastructure.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected restoration and maintenance works on NH-44 from Ramban to Navyuga tunnel.
Interacting with the affected people, the Deputy Commissioner listened to their grievances arising from the prevailing situation. Many families reported that their homes were damaged due to landslides, leading to huge material loss.
The Deputy Commissioner assured the affected families that the administration is fully aware of their plight and is processing the relief cases on a war footing to provide them assistance.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the restoration of roads, electricity, water supply, and other essential services to ensure providing of necessary facilities to the public.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing restoration works at Pernote Bridge being executed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). He directed the BRO to complete the restoration and protection works at the earliest so that vehicular movement and supply chains to Gool and adjoining areas can be restored promptly.
He emphasized that restoring vital road networks is a top priority for the District Administration to ensure smooth supply of essential goods, emergency services, and public convenience across the district.
