Urges Youth to Stay Away from Drugs & Channelise Energy Towards Constructive Activities;

Sangaldan, 17 Sept : National Conference leader and MLA Banihal, Sajjad Shaheen, attended the grand finale of the Sangaldan T20 Cricket Tournament at Sports Stadium Sangaldan as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by DDC Chairperson Ramban, Dr. Shamshada Shan, and several local party colleagues.
The much-awaited auction based tournament the final match of which was played between ANB Cricket Club and Somber Capitals, with ANB Cricket Club emerging victorious. The winning team is owned by Ch.Ashiq Hussain. The event was organised under the able efforts of Mohd. Iqbal Sheikh and Yonis Iqbal Dar.
In his address, Shaheen commended the organisers for successfully conducting the tournament and providing a platform for local youth to exhibit their sporting skills. He noted that such events play a vital role in fostering unity, brotherhood, and teamwork while positively channelising the energy of young people.
The MLA reaffirmed that the government under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to strengthening sports infrastructure across the state, with particular emphasis on rural areas. He announced that work on the long-abandoned Indoor Stadium at Gool and the Sports Stadium at Sangaldan will be taken up shortly. In addition, he said that Banihal will soon be equipped with a state-of-the-art Sports Stadium and an Indoor Stadium, meeting a long-standing demand of the youth.
Shaheen emphasised the importance of sports in shaping the future of young people and keeping them away from social evils such as drug abuse. He assured continued efforts to promote sporting activities across Banihal-Gool constituency and reiterated his commitment to the welfare and development of the youth.
The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and trophies among the winning team, runners-up, and individual performers who excelled during the tournament.
