Former Minister GM Saroori writes to CS on delay in execution of Singhpora- Vailoo

Subject: Singhpora–Vailoo Tunnel Project — continued delay causing serious public hardship in Chenab Valley-reg.

Dear Sir,

I am forced to write regarding the inordinate delay in the execution of Singhpora–Vailoo Tunnel Project, which has remained pending for years together despite repeated assurances and persistent public demand of the Chenab Valley.

The people of this region are waiting anxiously since long, but due to absence of any meaningfull progress on this matter has now become a serious cause of resentment and frustration in the area. The lack of all-weather connectivity continues to isolate large parts of the Chenab Valley every year, severely affecting healthcare access, education, emergency response, trade, and overall quality of life, as such the situation has become unpleasant.

Thus, it is must to state that the demand for this tunnel is legitimate, justified, and unavoidable. The project is a basic developmental requirement for a geographically fragile and strategically important region. Continued deferment only deepens regional imbalance and sends an adverse message to the people who feel neglected despite their repeated appeals and are suffering very much.

I urge you to personally intervene and take up the matter with the Secretary, MoRTH, to ensure that the project is cleared, prioritized, and taken for execution without any further delay. Any administrative or technical bottlenecks need to be resolved on a war footing by convening meetings.

The people of the Chenab Valley hope immediate decisive action, as such your timely intervention can prevent further erosion of public trust. I sincerely hope this long-pending issue will now be addressed with the urgency please.
