Banihal, 26th Dec: National Conference leader and MLA Banihal, Mr. Sajjad Shaheen, today kickstarted a series of key developmental works under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Banihal, aimed at strengthening public infrastructure and improving essential community facilities. These projects are being executed at a combined estimated cost of ₹40 lakh.
The works initiated include beautification of Eid Gah Banihal, beautification of Radhey Krishan Temple, construction of footpaths at Ward No. 4, protection works at Bishleri Nallah near Masjid Ahle Hadis, construction works at SDH Hospital Banihal, and protection works at Madrasa Faizul Islam Banihal.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sajjad Shaheen said that these initiatives reflect a focused, inclusive and secular development approach, wherein religious places of all faiths—be it Mandir or Masjid—are being accorded equal importance and treatment, reinforcing Banihal’s rich tradition of communal harmony and coexistence.
He emphasized that protection works are especially crucial in Banihal’s hilly terrain to safeguard institutions and residential areas from natural vulnerabilities. The MLA stated that the allocation of ₹40 lakh under CDF has been made after a careful assessment of local priorities, and assured that all projects will be completed in a time-bound and transparent manner while maintaining high quality standards.
Highlighting a historic initiative, Mr. Shaheen said that for the first time in Banihal, CDF has been openly and judiciously allocated for the digitalisation of all Higher Secondary and High Schools of the Banihal–Gool constituency. He further informed that funds have also been earmarked for the procurement of ECG machines and other essential medical equipment for hospitals, installation of high mast lights, installation of hand pumps, besides several other community welfare programmes across the constituency.
