JAMMU, FEBRUARY 16: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Sunday has urged the people to harness power for societal transformation and craft a blueprint for a prosperous India that lights the world’s path.
The Lieutenant Governor was speaking at the commemorative event on the occasion of 508th Nirvan Diwas of Sant Kabir, organised by Shiromani Sant Kabir Bhavan at Chak Avtara Bishnah, Jammu.
The Lieutenant Governor stated that Sant Kabir’s eternal wisdom and his message paves a brighter societal path, deepening our unity while forging spiritual and material triumphs for the nation.
He said that the legacy and philosophy of Sant Kabir is shining brightest today, awakening society’s inner soul.
“India’s greatest strength is its ability to master Tech and Tradition, Microchip and Mantra. Our ancient roots and digital branches, modern tools and timeless values of ancient sages are perfect blueprint for 21st Century success and prosperity.
India is stepping forward to guide the world toward peace and prosperity through its great saintly tradition and timeless values,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that India’s timeless mantra “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”—the world as one family—holds unprecedented relevance today.
“As global divisions deepen in economic and strategic realms, India’s timeless wisdom offers a vision where unity, peace, and joy become a universal way of life.
In the face of civilizational threats, the world will turn to India for grounding,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor also called upon all the sections of society to discharge their shared duty to eliminate economic gaps and social division and embrace inclusion and constitutional values for true harmony.
Responding to the demands, the Lieutenant Governor reiterated the commitment of the Government of India to resolve the issues of reservation in promotion and a gazetted holiday on Sant Kabir Jayanti in UT of J&K.
Dr Rajeev Bhagat, Member of Legislative Assembly from Bishnah; Shri Faqir Chand Bhagat, Chairman, Shiromani Sant Kabir Bhavan; Shri Vipen Kumar, Chairman All Jammu Based Reserved Category Employees Association, senior officials, prominent citizens and people from all walks of life were present.

DC Bandipora extends Mahashivratri Greetings; Joins Kashmiri Pandit Community in Celebrations
BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 15: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Sunday extended warm greetings to the Kashmiri Pandit community on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri (Herath) and joined them in the festive celebrations.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with members of the community and enquired about their well-being and the arrangements made for the smooth observance of the festival.
Extending her heartfelt wishes, the DC expressed hope that the sacred occasion would further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, mutual respect, and brotherhood among all sections of society in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the District Administration Bandipora had made all necessary arrangements well in advance to facilitate devotees and ensure that the festival was observed in a peaceful and orderly manner across the district.
Members of the Kashmiri Pandit community expressed their gratitude to the district administration for its proactive outreach and efforts in ensuring adequate arrangements and fostering an atmosphere of inclusiveness and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.

SANKALP-HEW Bandipora organises awareness programme on Skill Development at Athwatoo
BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 15: An awareness programme on Skill Development was organized by SANKALP-HEW Bandipora at Athwatoo, Block Bonakoot with the objective of educating youth and women about various vocational training opportunities and government initiatives aimed at enhancing employability and self-reliance.
During the session, participants were informed about the importance of acquiring practical skills in today’s competitive job market. Gender Specialist and Specialist in Financial Literacy, highlighted various short-term and long-term training courses available in trades such as tailoring, computer applications, beauty & wellness, electrical work, handicrafts, and entrepreneurship development.
Participants were encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities to become financially independent and contribute positively to society. An interactive session was also held to address queries and guide interested candidates.
The programme concluded with distribution of Pamplets cantaining information about the Role of SANKALP-HEW.

Awareness drive against Single-Use Plastics held at PALAASH & PAREESHA CCI Bandipora
BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 15 : Under the Swachhata Action Plan, a series of awareness activities were conducted at PALAASH and PAREESHA CCI for Boys and Girls, Bandipora, to promote environmental responsibility and reduce the use of Single Use Plastics (SUP).
The programme focused on encouraging students to adopt sustainable alternatives in their daily lives. They were motivated to use cloth bags instead of polythene carry bags, carry steel bottles in place of plastic bottles, and use steel glasses instead of disposable plastic cups. The initiative aimed to highlight the harmful effects of plastic waste on the environment and the importance of switching to reusable, eco-friendly options.
Interactive activities such as drawing and chart-making competitions were organized to reinforce the message. Students actively participated and creatively expressed their thoughts through posters and charts emphasizing the need to say no to Single Use Plastics. The activities helped in effectively spreading awareness and strengthening their understanding of environmental conservation.
As part of the programme, students also took a collective pledge to avoid the use of SUP and to spread awareness among their peers and the wider community. The pledge reflected their commitment towards building a cleaner and greener environment.
All the activities were conducted under the supervision of officials from DCPU and CWC, along with the staff members of both the institutions.
The programme concluded with appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of students and the continued efforts of the institutions in promoting cleanliness and sustainable living practices.

One-Day Recreational Programme for Senior Citizens eld at Sumbal
BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 15 : A one-day recreational tour and fun-filled activity programme for senior citizens of Sub Division Sumbal was successfully organized by the Social Welfare Department Bandipora.
The programme aimed at promoting active ageing, social engagement, and emotional well-being among elderly citizens. Senior participants were taken to a scenic spot where they participated enthusiastically in various light recreational activities including tug of war, musical chairs, group games, laughter therapy, and interactive sessions.
The event commenced with a welcome address highlighting the importance of respecting and supporting senior citizens in society. The atmosphere remained cheerful and vibrant throughout the day as the elderly citizens actively engaged in games and shared their experiences.
On the occasion, senior citizens expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Social Welfare Department for organizing such a meaningful and refreshing programme. The department reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare, dignity, and holistic development of elderly citizens.
