In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
The enthusiastic and loyal nation of Iran,
As you have been informed, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the presidents of Iran and the United States. On the path to reaching this stage, the responsible officials, out of compassion and good intentions, made great efforts; and of course, it was the US president who, out of desperation, utilized all kinds of leverage for this matter.
In principle, I held a different opinion, but based on the commitment given to me by the honorable President—in his capacity as the head of the Supreme National Security Council, on behalf of himself and other members—to safeguard the rights of the Iranian nation and the Resistance Front, and his explicit acceptance of responsibility for it, I granted permission for it. He has also explicitly stated that if the American side seeks to make excessive demands, we will not submit to it. From this moment on, we—meaning you, the proud nation, and this humble servant—will await the fulfillment of the stated conditions. However, it is obvious that the face-to-face negotiations to be held in the future will not mean accepting the enemy’s viewpoint.
We hope that the benevolent prayers of our Master [the Mahdi] (may God Almighty hasten his reappearance) will bring all kinds of victories and triumphs for the honorable nation of Iran.
And peace be upon you, and the mercy of God and His blessings.
