Srinagar, July 9: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday said that the party does not belong to any family or a political dynasty; rather, it belongs to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Apni Party is a credible platform dedicated to serving the people, voicing their issues, and protecting their rights.
He made these remarks today while addressing an event organised at the party headquarters in Srinagar. The event was organised to welcome a number of social and political leaders and activists from the Lasjan area of Srinagar, who formally joined the Apni Party in the presence of its leadership.
Addressing the occasion, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari assured the new members that they would never regret joining the party, as its policies and vision are firmly rooted in the principles of truth, integrity, and public service.
Referring to the situation caused by the events of August 5, 2019, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said, “At that time, the whole of Jammu and Kashmir was in a deep crisis and chaos. Our land and jobs were under threat, and there was apprehension that we could even lose the demographic identity of Jammu and Kashmir.”
He added, “In those difficult circumstances, we decided to travel to Delhi and meet the country’s leadership, including the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Hon’ble Home Minister. Although we did not have a public mandate at that time, it was loud and clear that we represented the collective will and aspirations of the people.”
He went on to say, “New Delhi responded accordingly. As a result of our efforts, we succeeded in securing a minimum 15-year residency requirement for domicile, protecting jobs for the local population, and ensuring the release of around 3,200 detainees.”
“That was our contribution at a time when we had no public mandate, yet we were able to convince Delhi to release prisoners and retain exclusive rights over land and jobs because it was evident that we spoke on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari urged the people to support the Apni Party and strengthen it so that it could effectively implement its pro-people agenda and policies, and work to safeguard the rights and interests of the people.
He said, “We are passing through difficult times, and there is deep uncertainty about the future of our younger generation. I urge you to support the Apni Party and strengthen it so that it can effectively implement its agenda for peace, prosperity, development, and the restoration of our rights.”
He further said, “Stop falling prey to the deceptive politics of the traditional parties, which have given you nothing but false promises and emotional sloganeering. It is time to support Apni Party that is committed to delivering results and working sincerely for the welfare and future of the people.”
The prominent among those who joined the party today included NC’s Block President Lasjan Latif Ahmad, Sameer Malik, Shabir Ahmad Mir, Mushtaq Ahmad, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Mir Gulshan, Zahoor Ahmad, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, and others. They joined the party along with their associates.
