Srinagar, July 11: Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Advocate Abdul Rahim Rather, on Saturday paid tribute to Madar-e-Meharban Begum Akbar Jehan on her 26th death anniversary. He remembered her as a kind leader, social worker and an inspiration for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In his message, Adv. Rather described Begum Akbar Jehan as a wise, compassionate and God-fearing woman who dedicated her life to serving the people. He said she worked tirelessly for the welfare of society, especially for the poor, the needy and other weaker sections.

He praised her efforts to improve the lives of the underprivileged and said her contribution to social welfare will always be remembered. He also highlighted her work for the empowerment of women and said she encouraged women to become educated, confident and active in society.

Adv. Rather said Begum Akbar Jehan played an important role in the social and political life of Jammu and Kashmir. He said her dedication, courage and determination continue to inspire people even today.

He added that despite facing many challenges, she remained strong and committed to serving the people. Her life, he said, is an example of honesty, compassion and selfless public service.

Paying homage to Begum Akbar Jehan, Adv. Rather prayed for eternal peace to her soul and said her legacy of service and compassion would always be remembered by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
