Jammu: SM Sahni, Convenor of the Jammu chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), has been nominated to INTACH’s Governing Council. The nomination recognises Sahni’s sustained contributions to heritage conservation and community engagement in Jammu and surrounding regions.

Sahni was felicitated at a programme organised by the Jammu INTACH chapter.Present at the event were Co-Convenor (J&K Chapter) Dr. Chander Mohan Seth; Additional Co-Convenor Dr. Satwant Singh Rissam; Coordinator, Heritage Tourism Arvind Kotwal; former J&K DGP S.P. Vaid; Kirpal Singh; Prof. Anil Raina; Senior Advocate Ajay K. Gandotra; and several prominent civil-society members and heritage enthusiasts. Chapter members highlighted Sahni’s role in initiating restoration projects, conducting awareness drives in schools and colleges, and fostering partnerships with civic bodies to protect historic sites.

Expressing gratitude after receiving the nomination, Sahni thanked the chapter members and pledged to use his position on the Governing Council to advocate for greater resources and inclusive heritage programmes in Jammu. He emphasised the need to involve youth, artisans and local communities in conservation efforts to ensure sustainable stewardship of cultural assets.
