Srinagar, 17, July 2026: An 18-year-old labourer died after suffering an electric shock while installing a smart electricity meter in Srinagar’s Khimber-Zakura area on Friday. The victim, identified as Murtaza Khatana of Uri, reportedly came into contact with a high-tension power line and fell from the electric pole, sustaining critical injuries. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further investigation.
