Reasi, July 25: In its continued crackdown on terrorism and anti-national activities, Reasi Police on Saturday executed a court-ordered proclamation under Section 84 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) against wanted terrorist Mohd. Qasim alias Salman, a resident of Angralla in Mahore, in compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble 3rd Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, Designated Court under the NIA Act.
The proclamation is linked to FIR No. 115/2022 registered at Police Station Mahore under Sections 13, 17, 18, 20, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Mohd. Qasim is a wanted cross-border terror handler allegedly involved in multiple UAPA cases, including the 2022–23 Katra and Narwal blast cases. Police said he is believed to have illegally crossed over to Pakistan and has been operating from across the border.
A police team led by SDPO Mahore, Ms. Parul Bhardwaj, JKPS, carried out the proclamation proceedings at the accused’s residence in Angralla village in the presence of local representatives. The court’s proclamation was publicly read out, and the accused’s family members as well as local residents were informed about the court’s directions in accordance with legal procedures.
As per the proclamation issued under Section 84 of the BNSS, the accused has been directed to appear before the Designated Court on or before August 21, 2026. Failure to comply with the court’s order within the stipulated period will invite further legal action under Section 85 of the BNSS.
Reasi Police said the action reflects the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s sustained commitment to bringing to justice terrorists, anti-national elements and absconding accused, including those operating from across the border. The police also appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing any credible information regarding the whereabouts of the accused with the nearest police station.
