Jammu, July 26, 2026: Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu campaign, Jammu Police achieved another significant success by apprehending two drug peddlers and recovering approximately 18 grams of heroin (Chitta) from their possession.

A police team of Police Station City intercepted the accused during routine checking and recovered the contraband. Accordingly, FIR No. 33/2026 has been registered under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act and Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station City. Both accused have been arrested.

The arrested accused have been identified as:

  1. Regan Mashi, S/o Vijay Masih, R/o H. No. 85, Village Jalla Chole, Bari Brahmana, Samba.
  2. Hassan, S/o Sham Lal, R/o H. No. 95, Valmiki Colony, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.

During the course of investigation, it surfaced that accused Hassan is a habitual offender with previous criminal involvement. He has earlier been booked in the following cases at Police Station Gandhi Nagar:

  • FIR No. 139/2021 under Sections 307, 326, 109, 34 IPC and Section 4/25 of the Arms Act.
  • FIR No. 311/2022 under Sections 341, 323, 379 and 504 IPC.
  • FIR No. 32/2022 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act.

Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the recovered contraband, identify the backward and forward linkages of the drug supply network, and ascertain whether other individuals are involved in the racket.

Jammu Police reiterates its firm commitment to eliminating the drug menace and appeals to the public to support the mission by sharing any information related to drug peddling with the nearest police station. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
