Terms killing of non-local worker a cowardly and barbaric act aimed at disturbing peace

Srinagar, July 31: BJP J&K spokesperson Altaf Thakur on Friday strongly condemned the terrorist attack in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district in which a non-local worker was killed and another injured, describing the incident as a “cowardly, barbaric and inhuman act” aimed at disrupting the prevailing atmosphere of peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, Thakur expressed profound grief over the loss of the innocent worker’s life and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured worker.
“Terrorism has no religion, no humanity and no justification. The brutal killing of an innocent labourer who had come to Jammu and Kashmir to earn an honest livelihood is a heinous crime that deserves the strongest possible condemnation. Such barbaric acts are an assault on humanity and on the centuries-old traditions of brotherhood and hospitality for which Kashmir is known,” Thakur said.
He said the perpetrators and those supporting them must be brought to justice without delay.
“I urge the police leadership and security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, identify every terrorist involved in this dastardly attack, dismantle the entire network behind the crime and ensure that the perpetrators face the strictest punishment under the law. Those who believe they can spread fear through violence must know that they will not escape justice,” he said.
Thakur said attempts by terrorists to target innocent civilians and non-local workers were aimed at creating fear and undermining peace, but asserted that such conspiracies would not succeed.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir have consistently rejected violence. Terrorists cannot dictate the future of the region through bloodshed. The resolve to defeat terrorism and safeguard peace remains stronger than ever,” he added.
The BJP leader appealed to the people to remain united against terrorism and support the efforts of the security forces in maintaining peace and protecting innocent lives.
