Jammu, 06, August, 2026: Continuing its sustained campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Jammu Police has achieved another success under its ongoing War Against Drugs by arresting a drug peddler and recovering heroin from his possession.
On 01.08.2026 at about 1845 hours, a police party of Police Station Channi Himmat was conducting routine traffic naka checking when an Audi car bearing registration No. JK02DU-0219 was intercepted for inspection. During the checking of the vehicle, police recovered silver foil paper and a packet of cigarettes containing a rolled currency note, raising suspicion of narcotics consumption.
Consequently, the personal search of the driver, Kapil Sharma, son of Kamal Sharma, resident of Ward No. 09, near R.M. Public School, Chowadhi, was conducted in accordance with the law. During the search, 7.50 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, FIR No. 223/2026 has been registered at Police Station Channi Himmat under the relevant provisions of law. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify any forward or backward linkages in the drug trafficking network.
Jammu Police reiterates its unwavering commitment to eliminating the drug menace from society and appeals to the public to actively support this mission by sharing information about drug trafficking or substance abuse with the nearest police station. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
