VIJAYPUR, SAMBA: Apni Party’s Provincial President, Jammu, and former Minister, S. Manjit Singh, has demanded a CBI probe into the mysterious deaths of an Assistant Professor and a Nursing Officer at AIIMS Vijaypur.

In a statement issued to the press, Manjit Singh said a meeting was held at Vijaypur to deliberate on various issues, including the two suspicious deaths at AIIMS Vijaypur and alleged backdoor appointments of “blue-eyed” candidates.

Manjit Singh said the suspicious deaths of two professionals at a premier healthcare institution in Jammu and Kashmir should be taken seriously and that the investigation should be handed over to the CBI.

“People are concerned over the sudden deaths that occurred within a span of 24 hours. These incidents cannot be treated as normal or simply as cases of suicide,” he said, expressing concern over the alleged administrative failure to address the concerns of employees at AIIMS Vijaypur.

He also called upon the AIIMS Vijaypur administration to conduct an internal inquiry to ascertain what went wrong, establish the actual reasons behind the deaths, and take appropriate corrective measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Manjit Singh expressed dissatisfaction with the local police investigation and urged the authorities to handle the matter with utmost seriousness and ensure a thorough and impartial probe.

Meanwhile, he expressed solidarity with the bereaved families of Dr. Vivek Pandita, Assistant Professor in the Department of Paediatrics at AIIMS Vijaypur, and Priyanka, 26, a Nursing Officer at the institute, who were found dead at two different locations within a span of 48 hours.

During the meeting, the former Minister also expressed his displeasure over the alleged backdoor appointments at AIIMS Vijaypur.

“Instead of providing employment opportunities to local youth at AIIMS Vijaypur, the hospital administration has allegedly made backdoor appointments to various positions, ignoring merit-based selection and the interests of local candidates,” he said.

He demanded a thorough investigation into the recruitment process at AIIMS Vijaypur.

The meeting was attended by District President of the party Raman Thappa, Provincial Spokesperson Adv. Sahil Bharti, Block President, Vijaypur, Bachan Choudhary, Block President Capt. Mohan Lal Sharma, Ex-Sarpanch Joginder Lal, Ex-Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat, and others.
