Srinagar, September 1: Apni Party Women’s Wing led by Dilshad Shaheen on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration at Srinagar’s Press Colony against rising inflation, the government’s failures, and the ruling party’s inability to fulfil the promises it made to the people while seeking their votes during the 2024 Assembly elections.

According to a press statement issued here, Apni Party women leaders and workers gathered at Press Colony in Srinagar on Tuesday and staged a protest demonstration. They raised slogans against the government over its failures and inability to address pressing public issues, including rising inflation, unemployment, and other grievances confronting the people.

On this occasion, while speaking to the reporters, Dilsahd Shaheen said, “This government has failed on every front, while the ruling party has miserably failed to fulfil the promises it made to the people during the elections. It has betrayed the people’s mandate and misled them with false promises during its campaign for the 2024 Assembly elections.”

“Apni Party will continue its protest against the government’s failures and keep raising pressing public issues and grievances,” she said.

Speaking on the occasion, party spokesperson Ishrat Bhat said that the ruling party had deceived the people by making tall claims while seeking their votes and was now running away from its responsibilities.

“The ruling NC had claimed that it would provide one lakh jobs to unemployed youth within six months of assuming power. Where are those jobs?,” She asked.

She further said, “It had also promised to regularise daily wagers. Why has it failed to fulfil that promise? Today, these daily wagers are being paid meagre salaries. How can they support their families on such nominal wages, especially at a time when inflation is rising so sharply?”

Ishrat went on to say, “The ruling party had promised to provide 200 units of free electricity, besides free gas cylinders to consumers. But instead of fulfilling these promises, it hiked power tariffs, further adding to the hardships faced by the people. The NC had also promised to enhance the ration quota. Where is that promised increase?”

Besides Dilsahd Shaeen and Ishrat Bhat, the prominent party leaders who were present on the occasion included Provincial Secretary Shiraza Malik, Meema G (Ex-DDC, Lethpora), Afroza Khan (Senior Leader), Rafiqa ji, Nighat, Sumeera and others.
