JK News Today, Leh : In a significant political development for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Ladakh, retired Chief Education Officer Smt. Konchok Angmo Gyamdu, prominent women representatives from Skara, and community leaders from Horzey have joined the BJP, marking an important expansion of the party’s grassroots outreach across diverse sections of society.

The joining ceremony was held in Leh in the presence of Adv. Tashi Gyalson, former Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, who warmly welcomed the new members into the party.

The entry of Smt. Konchok Angmo Gyamdu, a respected educationist and former Chief Education Officer, carries particular significance. Her years of administrative experience, contribution to the education sector and standing in society bring valuable experience to the party. The participation of prominent women groups from Skara, representing both Buddhist and Muslim communities, further reflects an expanding political engagement among women at the grassroots level.

The joining of Muslim community representatives from Horzey and surrounding areas is equally noteworthy, demonstrating the importance of inclusive political participation and engagement across communities in Ladakh.

Addressing the gathering, BJP Ladakh President Tashi Gyalsan Khachu highlighted the importance of the development, stating that the participation of women groups and community elders reflects a shared commitment towards progress, social harmony and sustainable development. He also highlighted the developmental initiatives undertaken in Ladakh over the past seven years under the leadership of the BJP and the Government of India.

BJP Prabhari for Ladakh, Shri Raj Kumar Bhatia, reiterated the party’s commitment to serving every section of society through grassroots engagement, development-oriented governance and inclusive participation.

He particularly highlighted the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in advancing women’s empowerment, referring to the historic provision of 33 per cent reservation for women in the LAHDCs, including representation through a designated Executive Councillor seat for women.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Konchok Angmo expressed her appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives towards women’s empowerment and the increased political representation of women in Ladakh. She reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening the BJP, particularly by encouraging greater participation of women in public life and developmental activities.

Welcoming the new members, Adv. Tashi Gyalson emphasised that the BJP remains committed to inclusive development, public service and strengthening its connection with people at the grassroots level. He acknowledged Smt. Konchok Angmo’s distinguished contribution to education and expressed confidence that her experience and leadership would further strengthen the party’s organisational outreach.

The development is politically significant as the BJP continues to expand its organisational presence beyond conventional political constituencies, reaching out to women, community representatives and professionals from different backgrounds.

For Ladakh, where social harmony, community participation and balanced development remain central to public life, the joining of representatives from both Buddhist and Muslim communities sends an important message about the potential for broader political engagement.

The growing participation of women and community leaders also highlights the importance of building a political organisation that reflects the aspirations of different sections of Ladakhi society.

As the BJP continues its organisational expansion in Ladakh, the induction of experienced professionals, women representatives and community leaders is expected to add further strength to its grassroots engagement and developmental vision.
