Earthquake in Delhi-NCR: Strong tremors jolted Delhi-NCR and several parts of North India at around 4:30 PM today. According to the India Meteorological Department, an earthquake measuring 6.3  struck the border region of India-Pakistan. Tremors were felt across the National Capital Region, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, reports said. Twitter users from Pakistan also reported feeling tremors after the earthquake. News agency PTI reported that at least a woman was killed and over 50 people have been injured in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Tremors were felt in several Pakistani cities including capital Islamabad., Rawalpindi and Lahore.

The India Meteorological Department said that an earthquake of magnitude 6.3 occurred in the India-Pakistan border region at a depth was 40km below the ground level.

“The epicentre was near the India-Pakistan border. The closest big city to the epicentre is Rawalpindi (in Pakistan’s Punjab province),” J L Gautam, head of operations at the National Centre for Seismology, told news agency PTI.

In Mirpur, a woman was killed and several others were injured as strong tremors hit the city. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital, Geo News reported quoting Deputy Commissioner Raja Qaiser.

Hospitals in Pakistan occupied Kashmir have been asked to operate at full emergency level to tackle the situation in the wake of earthquake, the news channel reported.
