PDP’s scheduled meeting on Thursday morning was cancelled after its leaders were not permitted to move out of their houses to attend the meet that had been called more than a year after scrapping of Article 370 and division of the state into two union territories last year.

Immediately after the PDP leaders were declined permission to move toward their office in Srinagar to attend the meeting, the first since August 5 when the Centre had abrogated Article 370, 35 A and bifurcated the state , PDP president Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter Iltija Mufti who handles her mother’s twitter account lashed out at the administration .

In a series of tweets, she described the act of the government preventing the PDP leaders from attending the meeting as “ shameful.”

The meeting was convened by the party to discuss the continued detention of Mehbooba Mufti and that of other leaders. The meeting’s agenda was also to deliberate upon the political situation in Kashmir obtaining after the scrapping of the Article 370 and subsequent introduction of the domicile policy that entitles the persons who have lived in J&K for 15 years, or Central government officials whose stay is up to 10 years and the students who appeared in class X and XII exams.

Iltija tweeted that while BJP is being allowed to hold meetings, why an exception as made in the case of PDP.

However, there was no official word till this time over the denial of permission to the PDP leaders to meet on Thursday .

She also tweeted ,” Why is PDP being discriminated against? .Why are these people being detained unlawfully? Under what law is their detention justified.
