Jammu, December 13:

After three-day-long continuous chase of a group of three terrorists who had come from across the LoC, a contact has been established with them by a joint team of J&K police and army, Director General o Police Dilbag Singh said here on Sunday.

The three terrorists were intercepted at Durgan Poshana in Poonch when they were on their way to Shopian in the Valley to refurbish the terrorists ranks there. They were asked to surrender, but the opened fire on the police party that had been working on the input of their infiltration from across the LoC three days ago, the DGP said.

Subsequently , a contact has been established and a joint operation is underway, Dilbag said.

Two Pakistanis and one local terrorist were in the group, according to  him.

This has vindicated the long-held stand of the J&K police chief Dilbag Singh and other security wing heads that Pakistan is continuing with its bids to destabilise the situation in Kashmir. It is making feverish pitch to disturb the ongoing District Development Council polls.

However, the police and army without caring for the hostile weather caused by heavy snowfall and treacherous terrain in the mountains had been chasing the terrorists, and it was greeted with the success when a contact was established with them on Sunday.

The operation could have been launched earlier too, but heavy snowfall had resulted in deferment of the operation.

The DGP said that “ this is yet another attempt by to send in terrorists of Laskar-e- Toiba and Jaish-eMohammad to Kashmir to disturb the ongoing democratic process of grassroots level elections shows its desperation with the huge participation of the Jammu and Kashmir people in the ongoing elections.”
