Top most separatist leader of Kashmir Syed Ali Shah Gelani passed away at his hyderpra residence in Srinagar late Wednesday night. He was 90.
Geelani was suffering from multiple ailments for the past few years and his condition had deteriorated over the past few weeks.


Geelani was once the strong pro-Pakistan voice in the Valley and had wanted nothing short of complete merger of Kashmir into Pakistan .
Geelani had started his political career in 1950s under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah before parting ways and he shifted his loyalties to jamait-i-Islami and ehaded the Islamic fundamentalist party for many decades before he quit it to form his faction of the Hurriyat Conference in 2003.


Latest reports said that the authorities are taking stock of the situation and may impose curfew to prevent any untoward incident .
