The Jammu and Kashmir Police is going to be first in the country to get 500 Sig Sauer-716 rifles and 100 Sig Sauer MPX 9mm pistols.
According to JKP sources, the acquisition of these American weapons will give more teeth to the police engaged in fighting terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir
The weapons will be made available to special operation group (SoG) which is in forefront f fighting terrorism in the UT. The world class weapons will also be alloted to police personnel deployed for the security of protected persons. The Jammu and Kashmir Police is providing intelligence inputs and is fighting terrorism from the front these years.
Sources said the force initially intends to procure 500 Sig Sauer 716 rifles and 100 Sig Sauer MPX 9mm pistols.
The Indian army already has these weapons.
