Jammu, June 11: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jammu university unit protested against the University of Jammu for the issues faced by students of affiliate colleges to get admission in 5th semester. The protest, held outside the office of the Dean of Academic Affairs, highlighted the issue faced by 4th-semester students who are finding it difficult to meet the criteria set by the university administration to get admission in 5th semester. According to the current policy of the University of Jammu, students must have fully passed their 1st and 2nd semesters, achieved at least 50% of the credits in the 3rd semester, and fully passed the internal assignments of the 4th semester to be eligible for admission.

These factors have impacted students academic performance, making it challenging for them to meet the requirements set by the university. ABVP believes that the university administration must reconsider and revise these criteria to make the admission process more inclusive and fair. The current policy is not only unrealistic but also unfair, and if it remains unchanged, a significant number of students will be excluded from continuing their education. This situation will have long-term negative effects on the academic and professional futures of many students.

ABVP President Jammu University, Sahil Choudhary, stated, The current admission criteria is not in favour of students they are facing difficulties to get admission in 5th semester . We demand a fairer and more accommodating policy that allows students to continue their education without unnecessary obstacles.

State Joint Secretary Sannak Srivats added, We stand with the students and will not rest until the university administration acknowledges makes the necessary changes. The future of many students depends on this.

A delegation of ABVP met with the Dean of Academic Affairs and discussed their concerns, urging the administration to change the decision. They warned that if the criteria are not revised, ABVP will hold more strong protests all over Jammu. The Dean of Academic Affairs responded, saying, “We will work on this matter,” but no immediate changes were confirmed.
