JK News Today Analysis

Jammu

As JK News Today, in this column had written yesterday that Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Poonch is a confidence inspiring mission, and it turned out true.

His presence in the town and the surroundings, devastated by Pakistan shelling, gave a new sense of hope to the people, and they felt more confident than ever before, as they deciphered that there is Central government that stands with them in their hour of crisis and beyond. There is a pledge to do the handholding to rebuild their future.

Home Minister’s visit to Poonch on Friday had engendered hopes even before he landed there. He has fostered a deep connect with the people, for he always delivered on the promises he made to them. He knows what the border residents of J&K were enduring but continued to write saga of bravery each time Pakistan happened to test their resolve. It has been happening since 1947, and on all such occasions border people stood their ground and foiled the designs of the enemy.

Among the border residents of J&K, Poonch always suffered worst kind of situation. This time, after Pakistan started shelling after being hit at its terror infrastructure, Poonch bore the worst; hundreds of houses were damaged, and inmates rendered homeless, 14 of 18 civilians died in this district alone. Despite this Poonch stood its ground, rebuffing all designs of Pakistan to cause a rift.

Amit Shah, from the soil of Poonch, promised that the Centre will provide a rehabilitation package, to supplement the UT Government’s relief package. It meant that the package will not be bound by any restraints, because it is meant to rehabilitate the affected families but also to laud their bravery .Besides, giving appointment letters of government jobs to the next of kin of the families that lost their loved ones in the shelling from across the Line of Control, Home Minister promised that they would be provided with bunkers, in addition to 9500 which have already been constructed in the past 11 year, across the border areas of J&K.

Now, when Amit Shah has returned to Delhi, there are three key takeaways from his visit to Poonch: delivered a message of complete and undiluted solidarity of the nation and the Central Government to the people who withstood multiple assaults of Pakistan shelling. Delhi, though being almost 900 kms from Poonch, Home Minister sought to tell the border residents, stands with them in all hours, distances don’t matter when hearts beats on same wavelengths.

Second, Amit Shah, made it plain to the people that they have nothing to worry about. All their worries will be taken care of, and the Central Government wills there all the time to do their handholding, to rebuild their homes and future.

Third, he delivered a stern message to Pakistan: don’t dare to mess with Indians living on borders, as Indians will respond more lethally. The sample of which Pakistanis have seen with the high firepower and air power with the launch of Operation Sindoor that decimated their terror infrastructure and a majority of military assets .
