Jammu, June 01: Pak situation not to have any major impact on J&K

The Indian army doesn’t foresee any major impact on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir because of the recent developments in Pakistan that have shaken the economic, political and security foundations of the neighbouring country as the anti-infiltration grid along the Lien of Control is robust and the internal situation is normal .
“ The ceasefire ( of February 25, 2021) is holding on . That’s a good thing . The infiltration has come down and the situation in the hinterland ( of Kashmir ) is well under control “, observed Indian army chief Gen. Manoj Pande at an interactive session of the India Economic Conclave of The Times Now channel.
Answering pointed question on the impact of Pakistan’s turbulent situation on Jammu and Kashmir, the state which has been a witness to Pakistan’s proxy war for over 30 years , the Indian Army Chief said that he doesn’t see anything major happening either at the LoC or hinterland as a result of the troubled situation in the neighbouring country . “ We are vigilant and prepared for anything ,” he said.
Gen. Pande, however, termed the Poonch attack on the army vehicle on April 20 , in which five soldiers were killed , as a “ matter of concern.” He was responding to the question whether this was because of intelligence failure . “ More forces have been deployed and we are sure to get the attackers.”
Regarding the targeted killings in the Valley, including that of Deepu, a worker from Udhampur in Anantnag , the army chief said that this is an attempt to sensationalize the situation .
