Srinagar, February 9: After two deadly avalanches, one in Sonamarg and another in upper reaches of Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) is not taking any chance to save lives of the people.
Whenever the weather conditions deteriorate and rain and snow lash the union territory, JKDMA issues avalanche threat warning.
In this regard, one more such warning was issued by the authority for 12 districts where upper reaches receive heavy snowfall. JKDMA today issued medium level warning above 2000 to 2500 meters over Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kupwara and Kulgam districts of Kashmir valley and Doda, Kishtwar and Poonch districts of Jammu region for next 24 hours.
The authority also expressed apprehension of ‘Low Level’ avalanche occurrence above 2000 to 2500 meters over Reasi, Rajouri and Ramban districts.
People living in these areas have been advised to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas.
