New Delhi, February 8,2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a historic comeback in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, securing 48 out of 70 seats, ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) over-a-decade-long rule in the national capital. The results mark a significant political shift, with AAP reduced to 22 seats, while Congress failed to win any seat, continuing its decline in Delhi’s political landscape.

Delhi Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal faced a stunning defeat in the New Delhi constituency against BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh. Kejriwal secured 25,999 votes, losing by a margin of 4,089 votes, while Parvesh Sahib Singh won with 30,088 votes. The loss marks a major setback for AAP, which had dominated Delhi politics since 2013.

In a rare victory for AAP, Atishi Marlena won from Kalkaji, securing 52,154 votes and defeating BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri by 3,521 votes. With Kejriwal’s defeat, Atishi is now expected to play a crucial role in shaping AAP’s future.

Several senior AAP leaders faced electoral setbacks:

– Manish Sisodia, former Deputy CM, lost from Janakpuri, securing 38,184 votes. He was defeated by BJP’s Tarvinder Marwah, who won 38,859 votes, with a margin of 675 votes.

– Saurabh Bhardwaj, another key AAP leader, was defeated in Greater Kailash. He received 46,406 votes, while BJP’s Shikha Roy won with 49,594 votes, a margin of 3,188 votes.

In the Chandni Chowk constituency, one of Delhi’s most politically significant seats, AAP’s Purandeep Singh Sahni won by 16,572 votes, defeating BJP’s Satish Jain. The seat witnessed a three-way contest, with Congress’s Mudit Agarwal also in the fray but failing to make an impact.

In a major win for the Aam Aadmi Party, Aaley Mohammed Iqbal registered the largest victory margin in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, defeating his opponent by 42,724 votes in the Matia Mahal constituency. Iqbal secured 58,120 votes, marking AAP’s most decisive win in this election.

The narrowest victory margin in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections was recorded in Sangam Vihar, where Chandan Kumar Choudhary secured a hard-fought win with 54,049 votes, edging past Dinesh Mohaniya by just 344 votes. Mohaniya, the AAP candidate, garnered 53,705 votes, making it the closest contest of the election.

The election results mark BJP’s return to power in Delhi after nearly three decades, driven by a strong campaign focusing on governance and law and order. Meanwhile, Congress suffered another major blow, failing to win a single seat, continuing its electoral decline in the capital.

The results set the stage for a new political era in Delhi, with BJP set to reshape the governance and policies of the national capital.
