Jammu, 26 January 2026: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at the Central University of Jammu (CUJ). The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, hoisted the National Flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, marking the formal commencement of the Republic Day function.

A Guard of Honour was presented to the Vice-Chancellor by the University Security Personnel along with NCC boy and girl cadets. The entire campus was imbued with a deep sense of patriotism and national pride on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain extended warm Republic Day greetings to the University fraternity. He recalled that on 26 January 1950, the Constitution of India came into force, transforming the nation into a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic. He emphasized that Republic Day is not only a reminder of citizens’ rights but also reinforces the importance of duties, moral values, and civic responsibility.

The Vice-Chancellor underlined the pivotal role of education, research, innovation, and inclusive development in nation-building. He also highlighted the significance of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, promotion of Indian languages, start-ups, skill development, science and technology, and the Indian Knowledge System (IKS).

Prof. Jain proudly shared the recent achievements of the University, noting that CU Jammu has made remarkable progress in a short span of time. Key accomplishments include securing first place in the ‘Excellence in Higher Education’ category at the Government Achievements & Schemes Expo–2025, achieving 28th rank in IIRF 2025, gaining global recognition in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025, securing research projects funded by national agencies, achieving outstanding performances in sports, and hosting the Curtain Raiser of the India International Science Festival–2025.

Following the flag hoisting ceremony, a grand cultural programme was organized at the University’s Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, featuring patriotic songs and performances by students of the NCC wing, Central University of Jammu. The celebrations concluded with the distribution of sweets among faculty members, officers, staff, and students, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
