Srinagar, Jan. 28: MP, JKNC Party Leader in the Rajya Sabha and Party Additional General Secretary, Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan,attended the meeting of floor leaders of the INDIA Alliance and reaffirmed the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference’s firm and principled support to the alliance.
JKNC has stood very firmly with the INDIA Alliance, guided by a shared commitment to the Constitution, secular values, and democratic norms. This support has been consistent and unconditional, even during challenging political circumstances. In return, JKNC expects that alliance partners will also demonstrate solidarity by sincerely highlighting and raising the concerns of Jammu and Kashmir at the national level.
During the meeting, Hon’ble MP Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan specifically appealed to the larger alliance partners including Congress, DMK, Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress, and other prominent leaders within the alliance to raise the concerns of Jammu and Kashmir in Parliament. He urged them to place the political, developmental, and social issues of J&K before the House and the nation, including by utilising their own speaking time, so that these matters receive the attention they deserve.
He also drew attention to the continuing democratic challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, where despite elections after a prolonged gap, real authority remains concentrated under LG rule, resulting in dual control and the marginalisation of the elected government. Such an arrangement weakens federalism and undermines the democratic mandate of the people.
Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan expressed confidence that alliance partners, particularly those with greater speaking time in Parliament, will extend full cooperation in raising Jammu and Kashmir’s concerns in the true spirit of alliance unity and constitutional responsibility.
