Jammu , November 7: India , while commenting on the US President Donald Trump’s claim that Pakistan is continuing with the nuclear tests , said on Friday that “clandestine and illegal nuclear activities are in keeping with Pakistan’s history.”
India has firsthand information regarding Pakistan’s nuclear plans and plots and how it had been acquiring uranium and other materials to enrich its nuclear weapons . Officially, Pakistan had conducted nuclear tests in May 1998 , weeks after India undertook the tests in Pokhran in Rajasthan the same year.
While India’s nuclear programme was for peaceful purposes , Pakistan , however has directed its nuclear tests as a manifestation for its lasting hostility toward India. Pakistan, on several occasions , threatened the use of nuclear weapons against India. Unlike India it has no first-use policy.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. In his weekly briefing on Friday , said : “ Clandestine and illegal nuclear activities are keeping with Pakistan’s history.”
He said : “ That is centered around decades of smuggling , export control violations, secret partnerships, AQ Khan network and further proliferation. India has always drawn the attention of the international community to these aspects of Pakistan’s record. In this backdrop, we have taken note of President Trump’s comment about Pakistan’s nuclear testing.”
