Srinagar, June 06:

On the occasion of World Environment Day on 5 June 2021, an extensive cleanliness drive, tree plantation and a drawing and painting competition was organized by local NGO ie Shugul Events and Bolivivant English School, in collaboration with the  Army, at Srinagar.

The volunteers included social & environmental activists and Scouts & Guides from local schools.

The activities, aimed at cleaning of the river bank  and environmental preservation, were undertaken near the heritage Zero Bridge in Rajbagh, Srinagar to spread maximum awareness. A total of 50 trees were planted by the enthusiastic children who also pledged to conserve the flora and fauna, as also the  Jhelum river. A large number of enthusiastic children also participated in the drawing completion organized on the theme ‘Panun Jhelum, Shafaf Jhelum’.

In the end all participants/volunteers pledged long standing commitment to preserve the river and keep the city clean.
