Not more than 50 people will be allowed to attend wedding functions as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday mulled to revise the COVID-19 guidelines amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in the national capital.

Addressing media, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a proposal has been sent to LG, allowing only 50 people to attend wedding functions now against earlier limit of 200. Delhi is also mulling to shut down markets that have a “potential of becoming hotspots”.

“Since cases are rising in Delhi, we are sending a general proposal to Central Govt, that if required, Delhi Govt can implement shutting down those markets for few days, where norms are not being followed & they are becoming a local #COVID19 hotspot, said Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Kejriwal also urged people to wear masks and follow social distancing.

“I am thankful to Central govt for helping Delhi people by increasing 750 ICU beds immediately. All govts & agencies have doubled their efforts to control COVID-19 but it can’t be done till people take precautions. I appeal all to wear masks & follow social distancing,” Kejriwal added.

Earlier, the marriage gatherings with an upper limit of 200 persons were allowed in the city. The move comes amid a surge in COVID 19 cases in the national capital in the past few days.

Delhi on Monday recorded 3,797 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the infection tally in the national capital to over 4.89 lakh, even as 99 new fatalities pushed the toll to 7,713, authorities said.
