NAGROTA: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President Jammu on Sunday said that development in J&K has come to a grinding halt under the incumbent government with people suffering on all fronts.

The senior NC leader was addressing a workers meeting of party at village Panjgrain Block Nagrota. The meeting was convened by Thoru Ram Block President.

On the occasion, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Provincial Secretary JKNC, Gani Teli, Raghubir Singh Manhas, Shamim Begum, DDC member Dansal, Rahmit Ali, BDC Chairman Nagrota and M.K Rana were also accompanied the Provincial President JKNC.

Chief Guest on the occasion, Rattan Lal said that claims made by the BJP leadership about colossal development in J&K are contrary to the ground reality because people are confronting the dearth of infrastructure and facilities under the incumbent dispensation in the UT, which is an offshoot of BJP government at the Centre. He said that people till date recall the real development that J&K witnessed during the NC regimes as bridges, colleges, high schools, Administrative units, hospitals, SDM office, Niabats, major projects of roads were completed in those times.

Talking specifically about Nagrota Constituency, he said that government is extending step motherly treatment to the area as it is facing the phlegmatic attitude of the helmsmen with population suffering on different accounts. He said that Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah took special pain in the alround development of Nagrota Constituency during the NC rule but today the people are facing number of issues because of apathy of the government.

Saying that BJP leadership is relying on divisive agenda to win elections but NC never believed in dividing people for electoral gains because it has undaunted faith in secularism and communal harmony at all levels. He said that locals in Nagrota are also affected by the record breaking unemployment rate but the incumbent government is not doing much in containing joblessness thus adding misery to the lives of people.

Rattan Lal Gupta appealed to the government to restore the statehood of J&K before the Assembly polls as it is necessary for delivering justice to the people.

Abdul Ghani Teli Provincial President OBC Cell said that there has been no development on ground about which the government has been making tall claims. In fact the people are decrying for basic amenities besides tormented by receiving false and hefty power bills, he added.

Bashir Ahmed, Provincial President JKNC, said that only National Conference can address people’s problems for which the party cadre will have to further strengthen the base of party at grass roots level.
