Jammu Feb 26 : Emotional and patriotic fervor gripped a large audience at Gandhi Nagar women college auditorium on Sunday , where the Disabled warriors and martyrs family members of armed forces hailing from different parts of country were honoured by Martyr Captian Tushar Mahajan Memorial Trust, Udhampur on the 7th martyrdom of captain Tushar .

The programme was organized by Martyr Captian Tushar Mahajan Memorial Trust to commemorate the seventh martyrdom day of martyr Captain Tushar (Shourya Chakra) in which disabled warriors and families’ members of valiant soldiers were honoured. The death anniversary of the Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan, who lost his life while fighting terrorists in the Pampore area of South Kashmir in 2016, is being observed with devotion and patriotic fervour by the Trust every year .

Col (Retd) R.K Sharma ( Kiriti Chakra , Shourya Chakra and sena Medal ) was the chief guest on the occasion, while Major-General (Retd) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, ,Major General Keshav Padha and Professor Minu Mahajan , Principal Govt College for women Gandhi nagar Jammu and Smt Ritu Singh president FICCI J&K were guest of honor on the occasion . Beside others senior officers from the Army and police, family members of martyrs and prominent citizens attended the function.

Chairman and Secretary of Trust Dev Raj Gupta , Shewetketu Singh ,Asha Gupta mother of Tushar along with trust members Vikas Manhas Ranjit Parihar ,Karun Raina and Deepanker Gupta facilitated the chief guest and guest of honors . After lighting of lamp by chief guest in his welcome address Dev Raj Gupta chairman highlighted various activities of the Trust and said that the Trust is working in three fields, Health , education and social sector. He added that during the span of seven years, we have tried to help a number of martyrs’ families, besides holding eye camps, honoring meritorious students and providing uniform and other stationery articles to poor and needy students,” Singh said. The students of Government College for women Gandhi Nagar presented patriotic group song on the occasion.
Chief guest Col (Retd) R.K Sharma praised Captain Tushar Mahajan for his exemplary indomitable courage and valour and said he was the epitome of true Indian soldier who did not mind sacrificing his life for the country. He said it was imperative to honour national heroes, especially martyrs, who had laid down their lives for safeguarding the nation as it imbibed a sense of patriotism. He added that his courage, devotion and sacrifice would always be remembered and inspires everyone. He also appreciated the activities of the Trust.
Nine disabled warriors and three family members of martyrs from Indian armed forces hailing from different parts of the country were honoured by chief guest at the function included family members Of Lt Col Rishubh Sharma Of 254 Army Aviation Corps , Flight Lt Adivtya Bal , Lance and Naik Mohan Nath Goswami A.C of 9 Para And Disabled Warriors Honorary Captain Jagdev Singh, Sub Jagmail Singh ,Naik Gurmel Singh of 9 Para and Sub Umesh Singh of 14 JAT Regt , Hav. Jagdish Singh of 14 JAK Rifles ,Hav Hans Raj of 9 Para , Naik Sanjeev Singh of 8 JAKLI and Naik Udai Singh Dagar of 9 Para ,Sub Umesh Chand of 14 JAT ,Naik Deep Chand 1889 of Missle Regt . The documentaries of their valour were also shown on the occasion .
.The narration of their story by disabled warriors by Anchor Kusum Tickoo filled the auditorium with an atmosphere of patriotism and nationalism. Disabled warriors from different units of army also described the spine chilling account of their experiences during war and while dealing with counter insurgency operation. Dev Raj Gupta, Chairman of the Tushar Memorial Trust presented the vote of thanks.
