Jammu, Apr 23:

The Chairman of Temple of Understanding India Foundation and former Member Parliament, Dr Karan Singh urged the countrymen to shun the confrontational path over the matter of religious diversity as the same can prove detrimental to the entire society living in the Indian subcontinent.

In a statement issued today, the former Member Parliament said “The growing polarization between our two main communities that has been witnessed recently is extremely disturbing. We saw what havoc this polarization caused decades ago resulting in the trifurcation of India. Under no circumstances can we afford polarization to grow once again, as that can only bring death and destruction in its wake. Any outstanding problems such as Hijab, Azan, Halal and loudspeakers must be sorted out peacefully between the two communities and should not be allowed to assume formidable dimensions. Provocative speeches mostly from fringe elements on both sides only add to the atmosphere of confrontation and should be avoided.”

As the Chairman of the Temple of Understanding India Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting inter-religious harmony, and on his own behalf, he appealed to all concerned to step back for a moment and re-orient their activities in a non-confrontational manner.
