JK News Today Commentary

Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s clarion call to one and all within the government and outside of it to dismantle the entire network of trade of drugs in the country as it poses multiple threats to the nation’s security and young generations , is realistic and very important to fight narco-terrorism.

Narco-terrorism is a menace that can spoil the societal environment and bring newer and serious security challenges is manifested in Jammu and Kashmir where the security challenges multiplied with the drugs making their way to the union territory . It is a matter of concern for the people and the government in J&K , but for those involved in this trade , in which Pakistan is their all-time partner rejoice . Not only do they get money out of it which is used in getting weaponry for killing but also help them in destroying ethos of society . It has been seen that drug addicts were recruited into terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir , and the addicts are unaware of the harm they are causing to themselves, their families and society that brought them up. They are used as tools by the enemies of peace . J&K has seen it all, and it continues to experience that even today.

In this context Union Home Minister has touched on all ill-effects that drugs cause to the country within. India which is growing and has become a source of both inspiration and envy to many countries in the world, is being targeted with drugs to promote narco-terrorism . Pakistan is on the frontline of this. It has blessings of China to do so.

Pakistan’s designs on J&K are not hidden from anyone . It wants to cause as much destruction in this territory as is possible . Earlier, it was getting the young people killed by guns and bombs, now it is using nuclear weapon of drugs that renders generations hollow , leaving them incapable of doing anything constructive .

That is why Home Minister Amit Shah took a comprehensive view of the problem and how it should be addressed on Thursday when he launched the National Narcotics Helpline “ MANAS” in New Delhi. He stressed that all agencies , especially the state police, not only should aim to catch those who use drugs but also to catch those involved in its trade and dismantle the entire network. He said that for this, there is a need to emphasize on ‘Top to Bottom’ and ‘Bottom to Top’ probe. He said that if a stock of drugs is caught on the country’s border, there is a need to investigate it and dismantle the entire network behind it. Home Minister said that Gujarat has done a very good job of investigating many big drug cases with a ‘Top to Bottom’ and ‘Bottom to Top’ approach.

He said that the problem of synthetic drugs is now coming to the fore in India as well and recently many illegal laboratories have been caught. He said that all the state investigation and other agencies should take detailed information about this from the NCB and work to stop such activities in their respective states. Shri Shah said that our goal should be that neither will we allow even a single gram of drugs to enter India from anywhere nor will we allow India’s borders to be used in any way for drug trade. He said that drugs should be taken seriously wherever they come from or wherever they go and unless the whole world fights together, we cannot win this battle.”

The message was clear that this war against terrorism and drugs has to be won, there is no other option
