Directorate of Horticulture (Planning & Marketing) on Sunday conducted a one day brainstorming and awareness session for “Making Cooperatives Effective & Impactful Organisations”.


Speakers from several organisations shared their views and experiences with the new cooperative society members who attended the session organised at Conference hall Kissan Ghar, Narwal Mandi.


The awareness program was presided over by Vishesh Mahajan, Director Horticulture (P&M) alongwith Priyaranjan, AGM, NABARD, Dr. Pawan Sharma, Assistant Professor, SKUAST, Amit Howaldor, Vice President Intello Labs, Digvijay Gupta, Joint Director & Ayaz Ahmad Natnoo, Deputy Director Horticulture (P&M) Jammu.
The participants also included Presidents, Secretaries and members of different Co-operative Societies of Jammu Division.


Vikrant Dogra (Head, JKDCUL) CBBO empanelled by NABARD and NCDC deliberated on problems, redressal and benefits of Co-operatives.
The AGM, NABARD discussed the role of NABARD in strengthening Cooperatives.


Jammu Kashmir Start-ups Association emphasised on adopting a bootstrapped startup approach for new cooperatives to create opportunities with existing resources in the beginning and utilising govt funds under various schemes in scaling/ expansion stage.


Vishesh Mahajan, Director emphasised on the need of maintaining synergy among the newly registered cooperatives. He asked the cooperative organisations to work towards being the transforming agents in rural India by ensuring that they make a positive impact in the life of its members and the general people also. He called for the cooperation of cooperatives to ensure that there is synergy in the activities of these cooperative organisations.


Deliberations were also held on transforming Rural J&K through Co-operative Societies and on successful working of Co-operatives. Vice President, Intello Labs created awareness among the participants regarding the role of Technology in Agriculture and its use by Co-operatives. The Department of Horticulture (P&M) has registered six numbers of Cooperative Societies within a short span of one month & is in the process of formation of more such Societies . Moreover in the said Co-operative Societies maximum no. of women have been enrolled as members. The awareness Program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ayaz Ahmad Natnoo, Deputy Director, Horticulture Planning & Marketing.
