“ Remarks by Jairam Ramesh on my article out of context, misleading”

JAMMU, Nov 4: Former Member Parliament, Dr Karan Singh on Friday expressed strong disapproval of the remark made by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh over his article published in the Hindustan Times yesterday claiming that the observation made by him is out of context and misleading.
In a statement issued here today, the former Member Parliament said “I notice that the irrepressible Jairam Ramesh has thought it fit to make a statement on my article in the Hindustan Times yesterday. He has made two points, both of which are unacceptable. He starts by alleging that in some way my article was against Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. This is absolutely preposterous. Pandit ji was my mentor ever since I entered public life at the age of 18 and I will always hold him in the highest regard. To suggest otherwise is outrageous. In fact I have also dedicated my latest book An Examined Life (2019) to him. In my article I made it clear that I was not dealing with the multiple allegations made against Pandit ji by Kiran Rijiju which I said quite clearly, were a separate matter and needed a much more detailed refutation on which Jairam should be working.”
The former Member Parliament maintained “This article was specifically directed towards explaining the role of my father in the whole Accession process. Jairam goes on to make some unsavory remarks regarding my father. His reading of history is evidently selective. He could go to the book by Prem Shankar Jha & other books on Jammu & Kashmir to get a different view point. I am one of the last living eye witnesses to the events preceding and following the signing of the Instrument of Accession which I have related in some detail in my Autobiography. I would have hoped that my views are taken in the spirit in which I wrote them rather than become a subject of snide remarks.”
